In response to changing weather cycles, log homes will expand and contract. This eventually affects moisture content in the logs. To counter this effect, we use specialized products that are made specifically for log home refinishing.
1 – Refinishing – This typically involves grinding and sanding logs to bare wood and washing with a mild detergent to restore proper ph levels. A stain or finish (or multiple finishes if part of a system such as PermaChink Ultra-7) will be applied.
2 – Restoring – Involves washing logs using mild detergents and cleaners which do not disrupt ph levels in the logs or finishes. A maintenance coat is applied over an existing coating.
3 – Annual Cleanings –Involves washing logs with mild detergents and hand brushing to remove contaminants. Contaminants such as growth, pollen, pitch, dirt, dust and oxidation all dull the look of your log home, and can compromise your log home’s coating over time.
