Seven Bays is a marina, a store and a stretch of waterfront on Lake Roosevelt. Open water, very little shade, and sun coming off the lake onto the south walls all summer. Consumer-grade water seals do not last here.
That is literally the showcase. A cedar waterfront home where a Behr water seal had let go and the siding had weathered to grey. Taking cedar back is more delicate than taking a log wall back, because the boards are thin and the grain tears if the pressure is wrong.
If a finish on this shoreline is being sold to you on a three year warranty, ask what exposure it was tested on. The lake-facing wall is a different building from the back of the same house.
